Who Swallowed the Sun? A Guide to the Eclipse In-Person
Join NASA Solar System Ambassador Francine Jackson for a talk on the 2024 solar eclipse and eclipses throughout history.
On Monday, April 8, 2024 at 3:30 p.m., Rhode Island will experience a 90% solar eclipse. Explore how to watch the eclipse safely, how to join others viewing it, too, and how cultures throughout history have reacted to eclipses and described them in mythical ways. Wolves swallowed the sun? The sun and the moon are having kids?
All attendees will receive a pair of eclipse viewing glasses at the event. One pair of glasses per person.
Francine Jackson is a member of the NASA Solar System Ambassador Program, a staff member at Brown University's Ladd Observatory, and a participant in Skyscrapers, Inc., Amateur Astronomical Society of Rhode Island. She has taught astronomy classes at colleges and universities in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and at the American Museum of Natural History.
Sign up below starting on February 28.
This event is free and open to all.
